A little bit about Kathy
Gaining the insight and support of another who accepts us as we are and stands in hope for who we can yet be, may be just what we need to make sense of our life challenges – someone to come alongside who can support the discovery of inner strengths and resources and help us to recover well- being and reestablish a satisfying life.
This is my aim for therapy in northern Minnesota.
Navigate, Thrive, Transform: Journey with Insight
Along life’s journey we can find ourselves wondering, “How did I ever end up
here?” We may feel challenged to find our way forward and wonder whether
life will ever be different or better. Difficult things may have happened to us or
been done to us by others. We can become weighed down by things that we
ourselves have done or be saddened by things that have not happened for us.
Gaining the insight and support of another who accepts us as we are and
stands in hope for who we can yet be, may be just what we need to make
sense of our life challenges – someone to come alongside who can support
the discovery of inner strengths and resources and help us to recover well-
being and reestablish a satisfying life. This is my aim for therapy.
My own life was strengthened in an important way as I received my MA in
Counseling and Psychology from Bethel University in 2018 and subsequent
LPCC counseling licensure. The counseling lenses and approaches I favor
are Interpersonal Neurobiology as it provides insights into the brain’s impact
on mind, emotions, and relationships; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
and its emphasis on growing psychological flexibility; Internal Family Systems
and its destigmatizing emphasis on learning to live from our true Self; EMDR
for its ability to reduce traumatic distress and strengthen positive beliefs;
Attachment theory for ways it influences brain development and relationships;
and the Immanuel Approach that blends with other approaches and views a
person’s Christian faith as a primary source of strength.
I acknowledge
spirituality as an important aspect of mental health and well-being, and for
those who consider faith to be an important part of life, I wholeheartedly
support this important source of strength.
I look forward to meeting with you!
